Building Skills: Carpentry - Finishing/Roofing
Course Objective
To equip a person with a meaningful and credible nationally recognized skills relevant to an occupational area, this enables the holder thereof to gain access to employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in Carpentry.
Target Audience
The range of typical learners include persons involved in: The construction and completion/finishing of buildings and/or structures, using wood or related materials; The maintenance of structures and/or formwork. Typical job roles would include:
- Finishing Carpenter
- Roofing Carpenter

Pre-requisites
Learners who register for this skills program are capable of understanding and solving mathematical problems and communicate at grade 9. This would help the learner to cope with the learning demands at this level.
Form of Assessment
Portfolio of Evidence
Formative assessment: Evidence of performance will be collected continuously as Learners progress and will be considered in the final determination of the learners capabilities.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Apply health & safety to a work area
- Install finishing components (If applicable)
- Install roofing components (If applicable)
- Set out and prepare construction carpentry work areas.
